Academic Advising & Retention Services provides advising for General Education, Undeclared Students, students requiring remediation, International Students and those on probation or disqualified. Transition advising is provided by this office through Frosh and Transfer Orientations.

Spring 2012 News
- AARS has a Satellite Office in Clark Hall 128. We will post available hours beginning 2/6. Drop by for advising help!
- AARS will hold a DQ/Reinstatement workshop on Thursday, 1/26, 3-5 pm. Go to the Unversity Calendar and Events page to sign up. Additional workshops will be scheduled in the following weeks. Check the Events Calendar and watch this webpage for those dates and times.
- Deadlines for Spring 2012 - The last day to drop without a W is Monday, 2/6. The last day to add online with an add or permission code is Monday, 2/13.
- AARS will not make appointments until 2/6. We will have additional advisors on duty for drop in and to assist students trying to make changes to their schedules.
- Senior verification cards will be available through 2/6. They may be requested online through 1/30 and by drop in after that. Call 408-924-2129 for drop in hours. You must have a graduation application on file to receive cards.

When is the best time to make an appointment?
- Academic Advising & Retention Services is least busy during mid-semester - October for Fall semester and March for Spring Semester. Take advantage of these months to seek GE advising!
- No advising appointments are made in our office during the add/drop period (first 2 weeks of the semester) - Drop in advising (quick answers) is available all day during this period.
- Visit our Appointment vs. Drop In webpage to learn about what sorts of questions can be asked in drop in advising, and which will require an appointment.
Campus-wide Advising Website Now Live!
Visit the Advising Hub website! The Advising Hub is meant to serve as a resource for all undergraduate and graduate students to aid in student success. As the name suggests, it's at the center of many advising and academic support services available at SJSU. This site can be used to locate and access the information and people you need to help you progress smoothly to your degree objective.
