Important Academic Policies
Academic Advising & Retention Services staff assists students with the following academic situations. Click on the link to find more information on the topic.
- Disqualification (DQ) - Undergraduate and graduate students are disqualified when, after being on probation, they drop below a specified SJSU GPA for their class level.
- Late Drops - The process of dropping a course after the published "last day to drop without a W" date each semester.
- Probation - An undergraduate student is placed on academic probation if the SJSU cumulative grade point average falls below a "C" average (2.0).
- Remediation - Students are required to take remedial English and Math courses if they do not score high enough on the ELM and/or EPT, the Math and English placement tests, to place into college level Math and English.
