Accessible Technology Initiative
The California State University (CSU) system has launched a system-wide Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) to ensure that each CSU campus follows state and federal laws mandating access to technology as well as to ensure a culture of inclusive learning.
The San José State University team is headed by ATI Executive sponsor Catheryn Cheal, Associate VP & SATO for Academic Technology, with representation from across the campus. The ATI team's responsibility is to establish policies that ensure access to technology is achieved in three areas:
- Steering Committee: Oversight committee for SJSU ATI
- Instructional Materials Team: Access to documents and media
- Procurement Team: Access to electronic and information technology purchases
- Web Team: Access to the Web
These three teams have specific work plans and deliverables. They need support and collaboration from colleges, academic departments, faculty and staff as San Jose State moves ahead to accomplish its goals of accessibility and inclusion.
