Poker Walk

Well U Poker Walk

The Poker Walk is back! Get ready to put on your sneakers and start walking on Thursday, October 11, 2012. It's a community walk around the perimeter of campus, which is just over 1.5 miles. Participants will collect cards along the way, and at the end of the walk, turn in their poker 'hands.' Participants with the best hands win prizes! Start anytime between 11:30am and 12:45pm at the fountain in front of the Event Center. Visit Well U for more details.

People-OnTheGo Training

Human Resources is offering online training courses to staff and faculty through People-OnTheGo. These courses are free of charge for employees! Defensive Driver Program Update

The process to self-register for the online Defensive Driver course has changed. Faculty and staff will now access the Skillport Defensive Driver Training online course via the SJSUOne account. Student Assistants, Graduate Assistants, Auxiliary Staff, and Volunteers will utilize a different program, the DGS Defensive Driver Training online course. Drivers of University vehicles must take an online driver training course and complete an application for University Vehicle Operation Authorization. Employees planning to drive on University business must complete the Authorization to Use Privately Owned Vehicles on State Business (STD 261) (PDF).  This form is to be retained by the department manager and updated annually.  Volunteers who drive vehicles on official university business, such as field trips or athletic events, need to follow the Volunteer Request and Appointment Guidelines (PDF).

Pension Reform – Update

The Public Employee Pension Reform Act (PEPRA) of 2012 will become law on January 1, 2013.           

The Chancellor’s Office is working closely with CalPERS on the interpretation and impact as it pertains to CSU employees. Additionally, in response to questions received, the Chancellor's Office created a Pension Reform Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) (PDF). Please note that answers are based on a preliminary review and represent a current understanding of PEPRA. Therefore, the information may be subject to change.
