Water Conservation

Through a partnership with the Santa Clara Water District, FD&O will be replacing over 500 older toilet fixtures around campus this summer. At no cost to the campus, older fixtures will be replaced with new, more functional ones.

More importantly, these water efficient units will save the campus 5,000,000 gallons of water annually. This not only benefits the environment from a sustainability perspective, but benefits the campus financially, through substantial savings in our water costs.

In 2010, the campus set a goal to reduce potable water usage by 45% through a program consisting of recycled water and conservation. With this additional conservation effort, we will attain a reduction of approximately 40% over our 2010 usage levels, just 5% short of our goal.

We'll continue to seek other opportunities to further this effort as well as other sustainability goals for our campus.
