HR On-the-Go Returns This Fall
We are excited to bring HR On-the-Go back for the fall semester. Human Resources will be staffing tables in front of Clark Hall on the dates and times below. HR will be happy to answer questions, process non-International I-9 forms, collect documents and provide general information about the variety of services available to SJSU employees.
August 25-26 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Feel free to send new faculty and student employees here to complete I-9s and collect their new employee packets. We can process non-international I-9s at the table and eliminate the need to walk to our office.
October 1-2 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
This will be a great time to talk to our benefits reps about Open Enrollment and we plan to have laptops and iPads available so that we can assist you on the spot with benefits enrollment.
We look forward to seeing you On-the-Go!

Insights Discovery Workshop
Good teamwork is about relationships. It’s about each team member understanding their role, contribution to the group and the part they play in helping the team succeed. Insights Discovery helps team members gain a unique insight into who they are, who their team members are, and enables the group to explore how relationships can be optimized.
Human Resources together with Spartan Shops have a team of certified Insights practitioners who will facilitate the interactive and engaging Insights Discovery workshop for departments or teams. Groups all over campus have experienced Insights and learned how to better adapt and connect with co-workers. For more information, visit the Insights Discovery webpage on the HR website, or email email@example.com.
The annual Benefits Open Enrollment period for SJSU employees is September 15, 2014 through October 10, 2014. All changes made during Open Enrollment will be effective January 1, 2015.
Open Enrollment is the annual opportunity to make changes to your benefit plan. During this period, you may enroll in, or change, a health or dental plan, add or delete dependents, enroll or cancel FlexCash and enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (HCRA/DCRA).
Please note that if you currently participate in either HCRA or DCRA and wish to continue for tax year 2015, you must re-enroll during Open Enrollment.
More information regarding Open Enrollment will be distributed in the coming months, but if you have any questions about your benefits, please contact your benefits services representative at (408) 924-2250.
Employee Services Fair
Thursday, September 25
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
New Student Union Ballroom
The Employee Services Fair is your opportunity to learn about the benefits programs available to you and meet the vendors who provide them. Your HR benefits representatives will be on hand to answer questions. This year’s fair, in the new Student Union Ballroom, will be bigger than ever with many new vendors offering discounts and perks to SJSU employees. There will be giveaways and prizes, so don’t miss out. See you at the fair!
Skillsoft Online Learning Library
Skillsoft has upgraded to version 8.0! The look and feel has been completely revamped but the content is the same. All SJSU staff, faculty and student assistants have access to thousands of free online courses, books, and videos. The CSU is planning for Auxiliary employee access soon.
There is a wide selection of courses ranging in topics from business “softskills”, such as business writing, customer service, and effective listening to comprehensive desktop courses related to Microsoft Office (Mac and PC), email, computing fundamentals and Adobe products. You also have access to a collection of over 20,000 business related books that can be read on your computer, tablet or smartphone.
Skillport 8.0 User Guide (PDF) and the Getting Started with Skillport 8 handout (PDF) are great resources to help you navigate through the site. HR is also offering an Intro to the Skillsoft Learning Library session on Wednesday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in Clark 547. The course code is TRCR61.
