Donation box
SJSU Campus Hunger Committee

The SJSU Campus Hunger Committee is committed to combating student hunger and providing the necessary food resources to support student academic success. As active members of this committee, Spartan Shops will be implementing change donation boxes in our on-campus eateries. Monies donated will go towards a variety of programs that assist students who are dealing with food insecurity.

Donate today to provide food resources to fellow Spartans in need.

Sustainability Update

Erase Waste Wall
Erase Waste

We are proud to announce that the Dining Commons surpassed the 5% food waste reduction goal with only weeks left in the fall 2014 semester. The Erase Waste Team worked hard to educate Meal Plan holders on the impact of food waste and the benefits of portion control. Together, we have reduced overall food waste at the DC by 12%!

Sustainable Practices

Some fun facts about what Spartan Shops is currently doing to reduce its carbon footprint:

  • All eateries on campus carry compostable utensils & cups;
  • 100% of our used cooking oil goes towards Bio-diesel production;
  • Our current waste diversion rate (rate of compostable and recyclable waste being diverted from landfills) is 90%;
  • The Dining Commons uses biodegradable bamboo dishware; and
  • Receive a $0.50 discount on your beverage purchase when using your own mug or bottle at our locations on campus.
