Eliminate Sexual Violence (Title IX)
The Chancellor’s Office and SJSU are pleased to announce training in response to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA) President Obama signed into law. This law imposes new obligations on colleges and universities under its Campus Sexual Violence Act (SaVE Act) Provision, Section 304.
Under VAWA, colleges and universities are required to:
- Report domestic violence, dating violence and stalking beyond crime categories the Clery Act already mandates;
- Adopt certain discipline procedures, such as notifying purported victims of their rights; and
- Adopt certain institutional policies to address and prevent campus sexual violence, such as training pertinent institutional personnel.
Please note that the course is voluntary for employees in collective bargaining units,
but mandatory for Managers and Confidential employees. This course is being offered
via Skillport’s Law Room, and all employees already have access. The course name is
EDU: Eliminate Campus Sexual Violence (CSU) and will take approximately 60-90 minutes
Please be on the lookout for an email notification from TrainingNotifications@calstate.edu with information about this training as this will be your confirmation that you have been enrolled into the training. You will get instructions in the email on how to log in to get started with the course. The training requirement will be ongoing.
