Dining on Campus
Why leave campus for lunch when you can find scrumptious dining options right here? Check our website periodically for holiday and 2015 Fall semester hours.
This Month’s Featured Eatery: Village Market
Did you know that we have a mini grocery store right on campus? Located in the Campus Village at the bottom of Building B, the Village Market carries a variety of fruit and produce, salads and sushi (made fresh daily), and even health and beauty products. Customize a personal pizza, try our tasty wings, visit the Bagel Lounge or cool off at “What’s the Scoop” where you will find Dreyer’s ice-cream. The best part is that the Village Market is open to all faculty and staff.
The spring 2015 Erase Waste Campaign was more than successful in surpassing the goal of reducing food waste in the DC. Our efforts will continue this fall semester to reduce waste by at least another 5%. Informational activities in the DC will be coordinated by our new Sustainability Coordinator, Shelby Sinkler. Shelby is a Senior SJSU student majoring in Environmental Studies with a concentration in water resources.
Student Food Resources
Since the beginning of the spring 2015 semester, concerned members of the SJSU community have donated over $7,000 to help assist students with food insecurity. Additional contributions may be made via the collection boxes located within Spartan Shops eateries across campus. There are 12 current food pantries on campus available for students to utilize when in need of food assistance and the new A.S. Campus Community Garden that provides students with access to healthy food is now fully functional. All students are welcome!
Please refer any students in need of assistance to our website www.sjsu.edu/food, to learn more about what other food resources are available.
Disposable coffee cups are not so “disposable” considering each cup has a plastic coating that makes it impossible to recycle. This is why Spartan Shops continues to give a $0.50 discount on coffee, tea, and Jamba Juice purchases on campus if you bring your own reusable mug from home. Currently, about 5% of the campus population uses their own mug, but we are hoping to reach 10% this coming school year. If you need a reusable coffee mug, be sure to stop by Just Below and purchase your very own KleanKanteen so you can save money on your coffee or tea and help save our environment, too!
Street Eats - New Food Trucks
Street Eats has a new look, and it’s bigger and better than ever. We are excited to introduce our two new food trucks that will bring delicious food to you all around campus. Also, look out for these new additions this fall during home football games at Spartan stadium.
