Traffic Update: 7th Street Sewer Project
In a cooperative effort between University Police Department and Facilities Development and Operations, this update is to provide notification about upcoming construction that will impact vehicular and pedestrian traffic in and around the South Garage.
The Student Union Recreation and Aquatics Center (SRAC) sewer upgrade project is progressing southbound on 7th Street. The construction company is scheduled to reach San Salvador Street during the first week of June.
The South Garage exit on to 7th Street will be closed beginning the week of May 23rd. All vehicles exiting the north side of the first floor will be rerouted through the garage to exit on to E. San Salvador Street.
As the construction approaches E. San Salvador Street, the southbound lanes in front of the garage will be converted for use by northbound traffic so vehicles can still enter the garage.
The final phase of the project will be to replace the sewer line on E. San Salvador Street between S. 7th Street and S. 8th Street. Traffic control will be in place to allow vehicle access around the site. The construction on E. San Salvador Street is scheduled to take place from the beginning of June through the first week of July.
Please drive carefully around the construction zone and follow the directions of the signage. Allow extra time when coming to the campus as the construction will likely have an impact on the flow of traffic. Thank you for your patience.
