Next Generation Technology Project - Campus Wireless Upgrade
As part of the Next Gen Technology Project, ITS is expanding wireless network coverage
in our campus buildings. Based on designs for the optimal number and placement of
wireless access points, we will be replacing and installing new devices in various
offices, hallways, classrooms and labs across campus. The new Cisco Wireless Access
Points will be connecting to our next generation SJSU network with enhanced performance,
security, and monitoring capabilities. A mixture of staff from the ITS Network Services
Team and our vendor partner Nexus IS, are performing this work and building coordinators
will be notified of the schedule.
You will continue to have access to our SJSU wireless networks, SJSU_Premier and SJSU_campus.
When connecting to SJSU_Premier, you may be prompted to accept a security certificate
from the wireless control system and should do so.
Instructions on wireless access are available at Wireless Network.
ITS will finalize and publish the wireless implementation schedule on our website
soon.
Information Technology Services Client Satisfaction Survey
ITS will be conducting a confidential customer satisfaction survey in the coming weeks
to gather feedback from the campus community on the quality of IT services. The data
will be used as a baseline to help improve services for faculty, students and staff.
The objective of the survey is to establish a baseline on how faculty, staff and students rate
the current services and support provided by SJSU IT Services.
We will set goals based on survey feedback that lead to better service in support
of teaching, learning, research and the business needs of San José State University.
We look forward to hearing your feedback so that we can improve IT services at SJSU.
IT Open Forum
ITS will hold Open Forum sessions every other month to present updates on our exciting new technology implementations at SJSU. We invite all faculty and staff to attend and ask questions.
The meeting agenda and WebEx instructions will be published to the campus a few weeks prior to the scheduled meeting dates.
The open forum meetings are scheduled as follows.
