parking on campus

During the first few weeks of instruction, traffic is unusually heavy and finding parking is difficult. Please plan accordingly and consider using public transportation.

UPD Officers provide traffic control during the beginning of each semester. It is important to follow their directions for the safety of everyone.

There is no grace period for parking. A valid parking permit is required at all times. Parking rules are enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Possession of a permit does not guarantee a space in the main campus garages.

Throughout the semester, the parking garages usually fill to capacity before 9:00am and remain full after 12:00pm. Please remember that "E" Employee Permits are also valid in General Parking at all times. Also, if the South Garage appears full, proceed to the roof where you will find reserved rooftop parking in the South Garage for "E" Employee and "H" Housing permits each weekday from 7:00am to 12:00pm.

new bike lanes

Over the summer break, 3rd, 4th, 10th, and 11th Streets surrounding SJSU were reduced from 3 vehicle lanes to 2 in order to allow addition of bicycle lanes. Be alert for bicyclists and possible traffic congestion resulting from the lane reductions.

alternative transportation

Employees may purchase a semester VTA EcoPass for $25 from A.S. Transportation Solutions which is located in the Student Union, Room 235. The EcoPass allows for the unlimited use of bus, express bus, and light rail services on VTA. Also, employees using alternative transportation to commute to campus may qualify to receive two free daily permits per month. Please contact Parking Services  at 408 924-6556 for more information.
