Senior Advising
First Semester and Continuing Seniors
- Meet with your Major Advisor to make sure you are on track to graduate. Be sure to prepare for your advising appointment.
- Apply for graduation as soon as possible after reaching 90 units. Timely application means that you will receive your official Graduation Worksheet in time to plan your last semester classes.
- Get involved with an organization on campus. It's a great way to meet fellow students and to keep sane during the stresses of college life!
- Consider participating in Community/Service Learning through San Jose State to develop social responsibility and give back to our community.
- Take a trip to the Career Center to learn about grad school options, resume and cover letter writing, networking, portfolios, and interviewing to be prepared for the job search.
- Attend a Career Fair on campus to learn more about the local companies recruiting SJSU grads.
- If applying to graduate school, solicit letters of recommendation.
- Apply to graduate school.
- Use the catalog, Department Roadmaps, and your Degree Progress Audit to check where you are and which requirements remain at least once a semester.
- Become familiar with Undergraduate Graduation Requirements.
Graduating Seniors

- Take a trip to the Career Center to learn about resume and cover letter writing, networking, portfolios, and interviewing to be prepared for and start the job search.
- Attend a Career Fair on campus to learn more about the local companies recruiting SJSU grads and to find current jobs being offered by those companies.
- Attend the Commencement Ceremony and celebrate all your hard work.
- Join the Alumni Association and stay in touch!
