CAPTAIN PATRICK J. GRANDSAERT

Capt Patrick Grandsaert is the Operations Flight Commander, Detachment 045, Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps and the Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies at San Jose State University, California. He instructs Aerospace Science (AS) 300 for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Course (AFROTC) cadets.

Capt Grandsaert entered the Air Force in May 2009 through the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado. He has 7 years of active duty service and has served in a variety of positions in the civil engineer squadron, including the engineering flight, operations flight, and the readiness and emergency management flight. He received a Master of Science degree at the Air Force Institute of Technology while researching autonomous imagery collection and processing of infrastructure assessments. He has had one overseas tour in the Republic of Korea, providing 2700 Airmen and 56 coalition F-16s with the ability to survive and operate in a CBRN wartime environment, overseeing 5 operational exercises. Prior to his current position, the captain was the Readiness and Emergency Management Flight Commander, Kunsan Air Base (AB), Korea.
