2013 - 2014 Gerald M. Starek Family Alumni Association Scholarship Recipient
"I am incredibly honored to be the recipient of the Gerald M. Starek Family Alumni Association Scholarship. This means a lot to me because this scholarship will help me continue my education and achieve my future goals. I plan to become a Certified Public Accountant and with this scholarship I will be a step closer to my dream. I also want to thank the Starek Family for giving me this scholarship; it is a privilege to receive your support in my educational pursuits."
Brenda is the first recipient of the Gerald M. Starek Family Alumni Association Scholarship. She is currently pursuing a degree in business administration with a concentration in corporate financial management. Brenda was both a university relations intern at Ericsson Inc., and an audit intern at BDO LLP. A proud Spartan and first-generation college student, Brenda is a member of the Latino Business Student Association and served as VP of finance. She volunteers to help low-income families file their taxes for free and speaks at various high school events, educating students on the various career paths available to them. Brenda's family is of utmost importance to her, and she dedicates time helping her siblings with their education. Brenda's goal is to become a CPA and start her own non-profit, focusing on higher education for children in third-world countries.
