Aside from two excursions in private universities (NYU and the law school of Santa Clara) I'm a product of the public school system (Towson and the University of Minnesota). Having taught in an elite women's college, I came to San Jose State because I missed working with students for whom intellectual mobility meant access to the American Dream. My goal is to offer our students the same degree of academic rigor, innovation, and excitement that their wealthier peers get at Stanford. Working in American Studies, doing interdisciplinary team teaching, has helped me meet that end.
