What it Means to Study Behavioral Science
The behavioral science major at San Jose State University integrates courses from anthropology, psychology, and sociology to enable students to analyze and develop a deep understanding of human and group behavior in many different ways. Studying the interdisciplinary methods of behavioral science also allows students to gain insight as to various functioning in society; historically, cross-culturally, and in the world in which we live.
While many jobs today in the social services industry require education beyond a bachelor’s level, undergraduates as well as graduate students are in a great position to obtain employment in nonprofit sectors due to the vast need for administrative professionals. Starting out a career in public services allows behavioral science majors to understand the needs of social service organization work, as well as the many benefits that accompany a strong career in helping those within their community.
