Campus Technology 2008 conference a big success for SJSU's Academic Success Center 

AVP Mary Jo Gorney-Moreno and Instructional Technologist Menko Johnson lead several sessions covering learning space design and research into learning spaces from the work they have completed over the past 2 years.  Their half-day preconference session on " 21st Century Learning SpacesExternal link outside SJSU domain" was a big success and shared many of the insights they continue to generate as part of the ASC project.  The following day, Gorney-Moreno and Johnson presented another session on " Driving Research in Technology and PedagogyExternal link outside SJSU domain" which focused on their efforts to evaluate the ASC and Incubator Classroom in particular.  Menko Johnson also gave a lunch-time talk on integrating technology and pedagogy during the conference.  If you attended the conference and are looking for the extra materials and video, please visit :

Campus Technology bestows Innovator Award for 2007 on Incubator Classroom

Incubator Classroom completes first year

5.25.07 As the Spring semester comes to a close and applications to teach flooded in, our panel of faculty and instructional technologists reviewed an incredible array of proposals, featuring collaboration, problem-based learning, and innovative uses of technology to enhance student learning.  The faculty response was overwhelming positive and we struggled to find enough classroom time to accomodate all of the innovative teaching ideas faculty are submitting.

Fall 2007 Classroom Teaching Applications

4.2.07 Have you been thinking about ways to enhance your teaching through the using of technology? Have an innovative idea you would like to test out? We invite you to fill out the application and submit it by May 11, 2007. 
Learn more about the application or come by Clark Hall 111 to pick up a paper copy. Applications must be returned to Menko Johnson, Clark 111 by Friday, May 11, 2007. Each application will be reviewed by a panel of faculty and staff experts and notifications will be made in June.

Smart Classrooms in Clark Hall Set Campus Standard

3.22.07 Technology enhanced "smart" classrooms are becoming more widely available across campus. The ASC has 30 smart classrooms with 3 distinct levels of technology, giving faculty a chance to become comfortable integrating any level of technology in their courses. Academic Success Center Official Opening

10.24.06 After several years of planning and hard work, the Academic Success Center offically opened today!  President Kassing was on hand and said: "The Academic Success Center will catapult the San José State community into a new era of experimentation in collaboration and learning. By fostering creative learning and group work, the center will advance our efforts to produce college graduates who understand the importance of utilizing technology to communicate and learn."  Read the whole press release
