Procedure For Video Migration

Due to changes in technology and pedagogy, Classroom Technology Support will be transitioning access to programs in their DVD/video collection to on-line delivery, shutting down their cable service and also discontinuing the call-in preview service at Media Services in January 2014.

We will need faculty help with this process. Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Identify which VHS/DVD's are now used in the classroom for your course.
  2. Once you have identified your videos, contact Alfred Eclipse (408) 924-2677 who can guide you through the copyright search, and explain digitization, closed captioning, and the upload process. To help expedite this you can download and adapt this publisher template, send it to the copyright holder of your video and return the permission letter to Alfred Eclipse, IRC Room 310 . This entire process may take several weeks depending upon the copyright holder response, so plan accordingly.
  3. Make sure Academic Scheduling has your class scheduled in a Smart Classroom or an Enhanced Classroom so you can display online videos through your laptop on the classroom projectors.

If you do not get permission from the copyright holder go to Options For Showing Videos In The Classroom
