Attributes of a SJSU Materials Engineering BS student by the time of graduation:
- Ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering
- Utilize the structure-properties relationship to predict the properties of a material.
- Select the materials and properties appropriate for a specific application.
- Apply thermodynamics and/or kinetics in the process design of materials system in order to produce desired structure and properties.
- Ability to design/conduct experiments and analyze/interpret data
- Select appropriate materials characterization tools, utilize the tool safely, and interpret experimental results.
- Design and analyze appropriate experiments to measure or optimize specific engineering properties, incorporating statistical procedures.
- Ability to design system, component or process to meet desired needs
- Select and evaluate appropriate materials and processing methods based on desired performance.
- Ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
