Guidelines for submissions and editorial policies
The Editor welcomes the submission of articles for consideration for publication, as well as other information about Beethoven. Articles are read by at least three reviewers who are normally Beethoven specialists. Potential contributors should consult the Journal for matters of style and citations. Bibliographic citations should include publisher, date, and place of publication. For more information on style and format of submissions, contact the editor, William Meredith.
Letters to the Editor are also welcomed. They may be edited before publication for length.
We request that all material (text and music examples) be submitted both as a paper copy and electronically (preferably formatted as a Microsoft Word document). These paper submissions should be mailed to:
William Meredith, Editor, Beethoven Journal
Beethoven Center, San Jose State University
One Washington Square
San Jose CA 95192-0171
Email submissions should be sent to: William.Meredith@sjsu.edu. Submission of the digital copy on CD-R rather than email attachment is also acceptable.
Publication of an article in the Journal does not signify that the Center for Beethoven Studies either sanctifies, approves, or disapproves of its conclusions or theories. Rather, we publish articles which contain ideas which we feel deserve to be brought to the wider attention of Beethoven lovers. This has especially been the case when minority or controversial opinions have not been previously published in English.
Finally, we have a policy of correcting all significant errors of fact, although we much prefer to weed them out prior to publication. Our mistakes are listed in the Errata section at the end of the Journal.
