BSSE Required Courses

To obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Software Engineering, students must receive a grade of C or better in all required courses.

There are three categories of required courses:

Note that the requirements have changed. Students entering the major before Fall 2009 may follow the program that was in effect at the time they entered the major. However, some of the required courses under older programs are rarely offerred, while others are required or elective courses under the new program.

Prerequisites

Before taking a course students must receive a grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses. Prerequisites are listed in the catalog. The following prerequisite graphs provide a quick overview of the prerequisites:

Substitutions and Waivers for Equivalent Courses

In some cases an equivalent course taken at SJSU or some other university may be substituted for a required course. See BSSE Equivalencies for established equivalencies and the procedure for getting a substitution or waiver approved by the BSSE advisor.
