While it is not recommended as a regular practice, it is recognized that there may be reason to hold excess salary budget dollars in Salary & Wages without attachment to a specific position. This could be helpful when salary savings has been recently generated and it is known that additional salary dollars will be needed in the near future for a reorganization, reclassifications, etc.
Rather than moving the excess salaries into OE&E just to move it back again in a few months, the Salary Savings could be held in Temporary Help using Class Code 2258. By using Class Code 2258 these funds are distinguished from other Temporary Help funds.
