Installment Payment Plan

Students have the option to sign up for the Installment Payment Plan (IPP). For details of the IPP due dates, see Fall, Spring or Summer (at left) as appropriate.

 

IPP Fees (non-refundable)

  • The Fall and Spring semester IPP fee is $33. This fee will post to your account at the time you select the plan. This fee is charged once per term if IPP is selected
  • The Summer session IPP fee is $22. This fee will post to your account at the time you select the plan. This fee is charged once per term if IPP is selected
  • If you are in housing, a $20 IPP housing fee will post to your account with 30 days

Financial aid students with a Registration Fee Deferral should not sign up for the IPP, unless the student is also in campus Housing and the financial aid award does not cover all Housing charges.

The IPP is not available online for Special Session or Open University students. Special Session or Open University students should contact Collections if they wish to discuss payment arrangements.

Payment Plan Eligible Charges

  • Basic registration fees, course fees, late registration fees
  • Non-resident tuition (non-California residents)
  • Housing charges

Important: Once a student enrolls in an IPP, eligible charges are divided into the installments.  If charges post after any/all installment payments have been made, please be aware that the new charges will be divided into the number of installments for the plan. It is important that students check their MySJSU account after charges are incurred to see the latest installment balance(s) and due date(s).

One example of IPP with 2 installments:

8/01/08: Housing charges of  $1,000 post

  1. Installment 1 = $500 (due 8/18/08)
  2. Installment 2 = $500 (due 9/18/08)


8/18/08: Student pays the 1st IPP $500

  1. Installment 1 = $0 (due 8/18/08)
  2. Installment 2 = $500 (due 9/18/08)


9/01/08: Student registers = $1996 fees ($1996/2 = adds $998 per installment)

  1. Installment 1 = $998 (due 8/18/08)
  2. Installment 2 = $500 + $998 = $1498 (due 9/18/08)

(Note the 1st IPP now has a past due charge which will create a financial hold until a payment is made)
