Fall 2011 Fee Increase Information

On July 12, 2011, the CSU Board of Trustees approved a 12% tuition increase for Fall 2011. For more detailed information on the fee increases, visit CSUExternal Link

In an effort to assist SJSU students in budgeting for this increase, we have developed a fee increase plan to spread the payment over a two month period. One payment for half of the increase will be due on the regularly scheduled payment due date, August 17. The second half of the payment will be due on September 17, also a regularly scheduled payment due date. Please see the table below to determine the amount of increase that you will be charged for each installment and the total increase amount.

Students who registered prior to August 17, will see a second line item that will be due on August 17, which is in addition to the original charges. There will be another separate line item for September 17.

For students who are on the payment plan, you will see two line items for August 17 and two line items for September 17 under the summary of charges. One line item will be for the payment plan and one item will be for one half of the fee increase. There would be only one line item for October, which would be your regular monthly payment.

Students who register on August 17, the original charges and total fee increase amount will be due September 17.

For students who register after August 17 and prior to September 18, payment of both the original charges and the total fee increase will be due September 17. Students may also sign up for a two installment payment plan, but the fee increase will be separate and due on September 17.

For students registering after September 17, payment of the original charges, plus the full fee increase will be due at the time of registration.

eBills No Longer Processed

We will no longer be creating and posting eBills. To view account balances and due dates, simply login to MySJSU and select either View Due Date or Account Inquiry.

Credit Card Service Charge

The non-refundable service charge for paying online with a credit card will be 2.9%. This fee is imposed by the credit card processor and is not a fee assessed by SJSU. Unfortunately, we still cannot accept VISA due to their regulations regarding the assessment of a flat fee for credit card transactions. We accept MasterCard, AMEX and Discover.

ATM Debit Cards No Longer Accepted

We regret that effective June 1, 2010 we will no longer accept ATM debit cards at the cashier windows. Also effective June 1, 2010 we will no longer accept pinless debit cards online. These changes are due to a significant increase in transaction fees assessed by banks.

Students can pay online with an eCheck at no charge. With eChecks, your payment is electronically deducted from your bank account. Students paying in person at the cashier windows must pay with cash, check, cashier's check, money order or bank draft.
