SJSU recognizes that the growth of online services, including internet services, has created additional privacy concerns, particularly for its constituents.

Online privacy concerns focus on the protection of person identifiable information, which an individual reasonably expects to be kept private. As the term suggests, person identifiable information is information which can be associated with a specific individual or entity, including, for example, a person’s name, address or telephone number, email address and information about online activities that are directly linked to them. 

SJSU knows that you care how information about you is used and shared, and we appreciate your trust that we will do so carefully and sensibly. This notice describes our privacy policy for the SJSU Marketplace.

Information Collection

If you browse the SJSU Marketplace website, you do so anonymously. We do not collect personal information unless you select one of our services or products and the use of your information is used only to process what you selected. Data is then deleted from all files. 

Disclosure

SJSU adheres to all state and federal statutes and regulations that prohibit information disclosure for students, employees and other constituents. SJSU will not sell, trade or otherwise disclose any person identifiable information in any manner that is not in conformity with applicable state or federal statutes. SJSU takes appropriate steps to communicate all privacy policies and guidelines to all employees. 

Security

SJSU is fully committed to data security. To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have put in place physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure your information. 

We urge you to take every precaution to protect your personal data. It is important for you to protect against unauthorized access to your access codes and to your computer. Do not share your access codes with others. Be sure to log off when using a shared computer.
