SJSU Alumni have two options to access Career Center services:
- SJSU Alumni Association members can access Career Center Services at no additional cost, as a benefit of their membership. Once you obtain your membership number and expiration date, you can activate our services by subscribing on-line and selecting Alumni Association Members. You must provide your 9-digit SJSU student ID number. Alumni Association membership is available for SJSU alumni only and must be purchased through the Alumni Association.
- SJSU alumni can access Career Center services without an Alumni Association membership. You must provide your 9-digit SJSU student ID number. To join, subscribe on-line and select General Membership-SJSU Alumni.
Note: Recent alumni retain access to SJSU Handshake, our lab, and Drop-In Interviews for 12 months after graduation. You must be a paid SJSU Alumni Association or Career Center member to attend on-campus recruiting events.
What’s the difference?
The Alumni Association membership provides additional benefits other than career resources through the Career Center.
As an Alumni member of the Career Center, your membership includes access to:
- SJSU Handshake, our online job and internship database.
- Employer information sessions and on-campus interviews.
- Career Fairs: Open to alumni with undergraduate degrees only.
- Self-help services on website, including GoinGlobal and Big Interview.

I graduated from SJSU and am no longer taking classes; do I need to pay to access the services after graduation?
SJSU alumni can access our self-help services by purchasing an annual Career Center membership for $25 or by joining the Alumni Association. Membership includes access to self-help job search resources and on-campus recruiting events. Fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable, and are not pro-rated. Membership is valid for one calendar year or as long as the Alumni Association membership is current.
Recent graduates retain access to SJSU Handshake (job database) for 12 months after graduation.
Does my Alumni Association membership give me access to the Career Center?
Yes. The $25 Career Center fee is waived upon presentation of your valid SJSU Alumni Association membership card. In order to assign you a new Career Center account, please submit your Alumni Association member information. There is no additional cost for the membership. This service is only available to those who graduated from SJSU.
Can I meet with a career counselor one-on-one?
Recent alumni can schedule one-on-one appointments with a career counselor for one month upon graduating. Beyond that, we are not able to offer career counseling appointments to alumni.
