Support for Alumni Members 

San José State is committed to helping you make the most of your degree. Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the services offered to alumni through the Career Center.


I've graduated from San José State and am no longer taking classes; do I need to pay to access the services after graduation?

SJSU alumni gain access to our self-help services by purchasing an Annual Career Center Membership for $25 or by becoming Alumni Association members. Membership includes access to self-help job search resources, employment events, and more. Fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable, and are not pro-rated. The membership will be valid for one calendar year or as long as the Alumni Association membership is current. 

Recent graduates continue to have access to SJSU Handshake (job database) for 12 months post graduation.


Does my Alumni Association Membership give me access to the Career Center?

Yes. The $25 Career Center fee is waived upon presentation of your valid SJSU Alumni Association membership card. In order to assign you a new Career Center Services account, please submit your Alumni Association Member information. There is no additional cost for the membership, but we must set up your account. Please note, this service is only available to those who graduated from SJSU.


Can I meet with a career consultant one-on-one?

Recent alumni can schedule one-on-one appointments with a career consultant within one month after their graduation. Beyond one month of graduation, we are not able to offer career counseling appointments to alumni. 


I am a Gateway Program (SAL) student. Can I access services?

As a part of the gateway program, you have access to our website/lab and drop-in interviews.


I am a Open University or special session student. Can I access services?

As a Open University or Special Session student, you are considered to be a part of the Campus Community and are eligible to access our basic service package. View our Membership page for an outline of our basic services provided.


I am a community member, non-affiliate of San José State University. Can I get access to services in your office?

Our services are only available to currently registered San José State University students and SJSU Alumni members. Please refer to Community Resources Available for a listing of businesses in the area that do provide job search assistance to the public at no cost or for minimal fees.


What do I need to bring to employment-related events on campus?

If you will be attending Career Center events, you must present a copy of your Career Center membership confirmation. That can either be a Membership Card, Alumni Association card, or email confirming your current membership from the Career Center. You must also show a picture ID.


Are other services on campus included in the membership package?

Not at this time. The $25 fee only provides access to Career Center services.  Alumni Association members do have additional benefits per the Alumni office.
