Support for Alumni Members 

San José State is committed to helping you make the most of your degree. Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the services offered to alumni through the Career Center.



I've graduated from San José State and am no longer taking classes; do I need to pay to access the services after graduation?

All SJSU alumni have access to our self-help services by purchasing an Annual Career Center Membership for $25 or by becoming Alumni Association members. Fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable, and are not pro-rated. The membership will be valid for one calendar year or as long as the Alumni Association membership is current. Membership includes access to job search resources, job-oriented events, and more. 

 

Does my Alumni Association Membership give me access to the Career Center?

Yes. The $25 Career Center fee is waived upon presentation of your valid SJSU Alumni Association membership card.   In order to assign you a new Career Center Services ID, please submit your Alumni Association information.  There is no additional cost for the membership but we do need to collect the Alumni ID and expiration date.

 

Can I meet with a career consultant one-one?

As of the Fall 2015 semester, we are not able to offer career counseling appointments for alumni.  There is an option to utilize SJSU Spartan Staffing drop-in hours, where alumni members can meet with recruiters to get resume or job search assistance. Availability is subject to change. 

 

I am taking the semester off but plan on returning next semester. Can I access services at no cost?

I am a SAL, Open University, or special session student. Can I access services?

As a SAL, Open University, or Special Session student, you are considered to be a part of the Campus Community and our eligible to access our basic service package.  You can access our services by registering with SpartaJobs. If you have any trouble logging in, please contact our front desk staff during business hours. View our Membership page for an outline of services provided.

 

I am a community member, non-affiliate of San José State University. Can I get access to services in your office?

Our services are only available to currently registered San José State University students and SJSU Alumni members members. Please refer to Community Resources Available for a listing of businesses in the area that do provide job search assistance to the public at no cost or for minimal fees.

 

What do I need to bring to employment-related events on campus?

If you will be attending Career Center events, you must present a copy of your Career Center membership confirmation. That can either be a Membership Card, Alumni Association card, or email confirming your current membership from the Career Center. You must also show a picture ID.

 

Are other services on campus included in the membership package?

Not at this time. The $25 fee only provides access to Career Center services.  Alumni Association members do have additional benefits per the Alumni office.
