 Support for Alumni Career Development

San Jose State is committed to helping you make the most of your degree. Below are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the services offered to alumni through the Career Center.

    1. I've graduated from San Jose State and am no longer taking classes; do I need to pay to access the services after graduation?
    2. Does my alumni association membership give me access to the Career Center?
    3. Can I meet with a career consultant one-on-one?
    4. I'm taking the semester off but plan on returning for the next semester. Can I access services at no cost?
    5. I am a SAL, Open University, or special session student. Can I access services?

 1. I've graduated from San Jose State and am no longer taking classes; do I need to pay to access the services after graduation?

All SJSU community and alumni have access to our self-help services by purchasing an Annual Career Center Membership for $25. Fees are non-refundable, non-transferrable, and are not pro-rated. The membership will be valid for one calendar year and includes access to job search resources, job-oriented events, and more. Please review the Membership Page for thorough outline of services provided. 



 2. Does my Alumni Association Membership give me access to the Career Center?

Yes. The $25 Career Center fee is waived upon presentation of your valid SJSU Alumni Association membership card.   In order to assign you a new Career Center Services ID, please submit your Alumni Association information on this page.  There is no additional cost for the membership but we do need to collect the Alumni ID and expiration date.  



3. Can I meet with a career consultant one-one?

As of the Spring 2014 semester, we are able to offer consulting appointments for our registered alumni members on a fee basis.  Once alums become members, they are able to purchase a 50-minute appointment for $50.00 fee.  You can purchase an appointment through our Storefront and once processed, we will send information regarding scheduling with your receipt. 

 

 4. I'm taking the semester off but plan on returning for the next semester. Can I access services at no cost?

All SJSU Campus Community have access to our self-help services by purchasing an Annual Career Center Membership for $25.  5. I am a SAL, Open University, or special session student. Can I access services?

As a SAL, Open University, or Special Session student, you are considered to be a part of the Campus Community.  You can access our services by purchasing the $25 membership. View our Membership page for thorough outline of services provided. 


 6. I am a community member, non-affiliate of SJSU. Can I get access to services in your office?

Our services are only available to currently registered SJSU students, Alumni members, and Campus Community members. Please refer to Community Resources Available for a listing of businesses in the area that do provide counseling to the public at no cost or for minimal fees.



 7. What do I need to bring to employment-related events on campus?

If you will be attending Career Center events, you must present a copy of your Career Center membership confirmation. That can either be a Membership Card, Alumni Association card, or email confirming your current membership from the Career Center. You must also show a picture ID. 



 8. Are other services on campus inlcluded in the membership package?

Not at this time. The $25 fee only provides access to Career Center services.  Alumni Association members do have campus benefits.
