What is an internship?

An internship is a paid or unpaid, closely monitored, highly structured, strategic, well defined, project-related program that provides professional work experience outside of the classroom environment. An internship merges academic, personal development and career exploration in one. Internships are typically part-time and can last three or more months, a semester, or can also last for several years.

How can an internship be beneficial?

    • Gain practical work experience in your major.
    • Develop and expand your technical and career-related skills.
    • Build stronger interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Build a network of valuable professional contacts.
    • Explore different companies and organizations.
    • Evaluate career alternatives and choices.
    • Test your chosen field.
    • Boost self-confidence and professional credibility.
