Giving to CASAThe Rewards of GivingThe College of Applied Sciences and Arts has a tradition of academic excellence that has been made possible by the financial gifts of support from alumni, parents and friends. These contributions provide funding to meet new and exciting programmatic needs in the College, or one of the departments, schools or programs within the College. Your donation provides assistance for students, scholarships and addresses emerging needs. Every gift – no matter what size – does make a difference. Outright gifts provide the College with much needed financial assistance. They have an immediate impact on students, faculty and programs because they can be used to support a variety of current needs. At times, the College accepts “Gifts in Kind” in the form of equipment, supplies, materials, software or hardware. Contact Dean Inger Sagatun-Edwards to discuss the gift you are considering. Many businesses and corporations match personal gifts to educational institutions made by employees, retirees and their family members. Contact your company’s personnel office for more information. All gifts are tax deductible. If you want to join your fellow alumni, parents and friends in making the College of Applied Sciences and Arts and its programs strong, please complete and mail the donation form (pdf), along with your check, to: Dr. Barbara Conry, Dean For more detailed information on a specific fund or scholarship, or to establish a new scholarship or award, please contact Dr. Barbara Conry, Dean, College of Applied Sciences and Arts at (408) 924-2900 or email development@casa.sjsu.edu Donations can benefit the following academic areas
The College of Applied Sciences and Arts has many scholarships and trust funds in need of your support that directly support faculty and the students who will be our future scholars and professionals. The Teaching Excellence FundThe College of Applied Sciences and Arts seeks annual gifts and endowments to support instructional excellence at the College. Both means of support will help guarantee that teaching remains at the forefront of the College’s mission, ensuring that students receive the best possible preparation for professional careers. Income from the fund may be used to support development of new instructional techniques or materials, develop new laboratories, or instruction. Faculty members submit proposals to the college for projects designed to develop and implement innovative instructional approaches. The funding may be allocated to reduce temporarily a faculty member’s teaching responsibilities, to support student assistants or provide some other form of technical aid, to purchase equipment, software, or instructional materials, or to provide matching support as required by some federal grants. The goal is to establish an endowment for 20 awards each providing an average of $15,000 per year. This requires an endowment of $6 million. Dean’s Awards FundThis fund provides financial support for activities for which state funds are not available. Included are the Dean’s Awards Reception held each year in May. The Dean’s Awards Reception recognizes outstanding students, faculty, and distinguished alumni. Also honored at the reception are students who work toward the enhancement of equity and diversity within the communities in which they live.
