CCLL was established in January 2000 as the Center for Service Learning within Undergraduate Studies. Responding to a call in higher education from university presidents, government, and the California State University, San Jose State institutionalized community learning within the academic program.
CCLL promotes and develops knowledge, values, skills, motivation and means for students to become participants in public life in an informed, committed and constructive manner, with focus on addressing community problems.
