Cèsar Chavez Community Action Center (CCCAC is Located on SJSU Campus)

CCCAC was established by Associated Students in July 2005 and purpose is to connect SJSU students with community service opportunities that deepen the educational experience while promoting the lifelong commitment to civic activism at the heart of the Cèsar Chavez legacy. Below is list of student-run programs of CCCAC.

Fuerza Escolar(FE) (A CCCAC Program)

FE is a mentoring program advocating the need for college role models and the importance of promoting higher education to elementary students in underprivileged communities. Mentors inspire hope and empower youth, as Fè in Spanish means “faith”, which this program highlights. The program is open to all San Jose State students or community members and was initiated in September of 2008.

I Think (A CCCAC Program)

I Think is a student-led program enlightening the community about social issues, cultivating community engagement, and fostering community-building leadership. Previous workshops include: Service Planning, Community Media Community Awareness Tour and Seminar, Getting Engaged with My Community, and Equality and Education.

Legacy Tours (A CCCAC Program)

Leading tours with groups of K-12 students of SJSU, emphasizing the legacies and history behind the Tommie Smith John Carlos Statures, Yoshihiro Uchida Hall, Cèsar Chavez Arch of Dignity, and other centers of student service learning programs. Tour guides hope to engage students to strive for higher education.

STRIVE (A CCCAC Program)

STRIVE is an innovative college mentoring program that connects motivated, low-income high school students with undergraduate mentors, who guide them through the college application process and into enrollment at four-year universities and colleges, providing them with opportunities and resources to break the cycle of poverty forever
