*CSJ-SJSU Public Sector Career Initiative. The City of San Jose and SJSU is establishing service-learning opportunities between their employees and students in order to meet mutually beneficial goals, i.e., student internships and projects at the City and exposure to public sector careers. Internships/project teams are being piloted in Environmental Services, Finance, Management Information Systems, and Police/Justice. CommUniverCity San Jose, a collaborative in Five Wounds/Brookwood Terrace SNI. 

Several university departments, community partners, and the Center for Service-Learning, have joined together with the Five Wounds/Brookwood Terrace strong neighborhood to collaborate on neighborhood priorities and community development. County of Santa Clara, Office of Human Relations.  OHR promotes and provides services that serve to bridge county government and diverse communities, build positive inter-group relations, and eliminate prejudice and discrimination. Help with administration, advocacy, citizenship training, education, event planning, women’s issues, and outreach.

Habitat for Humanity San Jose. Habitat San Jose is building homes for three years in Northside San Jose and needs steady source of volunteers for planning, design, construction, fundraising and program development. Special homes (for women and persons with disabilities) seek engineering/design.

*Neighborhood Housing Services Silicon Valley.  Help to improve neighborhoods and empower residents by partnering with NHSSV and the City of San Jose Strong Neighborhood Initiative. Be a painter for a day by participating in our exterior house paintings (Paint-a-Thons) which are held three times per year. Or, get some event planning experience helping put on the annual Affordable Housing Fair in May.

Our City Forest (OCF). Cultivates a greener, healthier metropolis and a sense of community by involving Silicon Valley residents in the understanding, planting, care, and appreciation of the urban forest. Train and support our volunteer coaches- Tree Amigos. Also, assist neighborhood groups, residents, service clubs, businesses and schools.
