GOVERNOR GRAY DAVIS
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the people of the State of California, it is a great pleasure to invite you to participate in the 2003 Disaster Resistant California Conference being held April 21-23, 2003 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, California.
Our experiences in California have emphasized the importance of a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to disaster preparedness. The events of September 11 have reminded us of how important it is to enhance our ability to ensure a quick and efficient response to potential disasters. At the same time, we must continue efforts to mitigate disasters before they strike.
Sponsored by the Governor's Office of Emergency Services and The Collaborative for Disaster Mitigation, this conference is one of the most valuable forums designed to promote disaster mitigation and preparedness in the Golden State. The goal of this statewide conference is to encourage partnerships between the public and private sector and strengthen our ability to deal with natural and human-caused disasters. This year's theme, "Multi- Hazard Mitigation -Innovation, Integration and Implementation," addresses these threats by offering innovative solutions for today's emergency management environment.
I hope you will be able to attend the 2003 Disaster Resistant California Conference. Together, we can meet the challenges for building a safer, disaster resistant California.
Sincerely,
STATE CAPITOL, SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA 95814 (916) 445-2841
