Van has been involved in grants management her entire career. This included the administration of grant awards for both State and local governments and non-profit organizations. She has been the Director of a non-profit agency that received multiple Federal grant awards; the recipient of city and county direct grants and State subgrant awards; a contractor retained to develop applications, provide training, and monitor activities and funding awarded under State and local grant awards; and a Regional Program Manager for a Federal agency.

In addition, as a volunteer, Van has assisted non-profit organizations and local governments in applying for and administering Federal grant awards. Currently, Van is working at FEMA Headquarters as a Grant Management Specialist in the Grants Management Policy Office.
