Early Career Planning
Launching one’s academic career can seem somewhat overwhelming. Juggling developing courses, articulating a trajectory for one’s scholarly and creative activities, and finding ways to contribute meaningfully to the campus and to one’s broader professional community can be challenging. Achieving some semblance of work-life balance in the process can be even more difficult. The Center offers a variety of workshops and informational sessions as well as mini-retreats and individual consultations to assist faculty with any and all of these elements of planning and managing their early careers.
SJSU maintains an institutional membership in the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). The NCFDD offers a wide range of resources to assist faculty as they launch and balance their careers. For information about how becoming a member, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
