As an instructional designer, Mei supports faculty and staff to use instructional technologies and instructional design to enhance their professional work for students. She provides one-on-one consultations as well as collaborates in faculty-initiated projects such as, course design or teaching materials design and development; new curriculum planning; technology integration in the classroom, etc.

She also designs and conducts workshops for a variety of topics. In 2011-2012 the workshop topics include: Pedagogy in Online Learning and Teaching, Go Forward with Backward Design: A Course Design workshop, Alignment of Learning Outcomes, Engaging Students Online with Elluminate Live!
