Educational Simulations & Games
Overview
Educational simulations imitate real equipment, natural phenomena and human interactions that might otherwise be too expensive, dangerous, awkward or time-consuming for learners to interact with. Simulations enhance explanations with animations demonstrating change over time. In an ideal educational simulation, students manipulate the system in learner-centric interactions and receive immediate, authentic and meaningful feedback.
Computers aren't required for teaching with simulations, but the ability to control an event's timing, rapidly calculate feedback and enhance the experience with multimedia effects make computers the tool of choice. Also, developers must balance achieving the greatest possible realism (fidelity) while keeping the project affordable.
