SOMETHING NEW Starting Fall 2014

For all students entering the ChAD program in fall 2014 and any current students who opt to change to one of the new plans, there will be two paths through the Plan B curriculum. Both plans will prepare students, upon graduation, for professions that serve children and families.  One path, the Early Childhood Focus, emphasizes early care and education. The other path, the Community Focus, is intended for students whose interests are in working with children and families in community settings. Both of the Plan B paths also prepare students for graduate study in child and adolescent development or for the social sciences in general. Plan B is not recommended for students who expect to enter a teaching credential program after graduation; however, Plan B graduates often do apply to and are accepted into multiple subject credential programs.

These new paths include new courses and somewhat different requirements than those shown below for the existing Plan B. See the new Plan B advisement form for the revised requirements. If you enrolled at SJSU spring 2014 or earlier, are considering the new options, and have questions, stop by the ChAD department office (SH 201) or make an appointment with a department advisor.

Advisement Appointments

Appointments are available from the first week of classes through to the last week of instruction in the fall and spring semesters. Appointment scheduling is self-serve. Sign-up sheets are available starting on the first class day of the semester in SH 201. Be sure to follow the instructions on the ChAD advising page to prepare for your appointment.

If you need advisement assistance during the breaks between semesters or over the summer, go to (SH 201) or call the department office (408) 924-3718.
