Scholarships awarded to SJSU College of Business students recognize students’ academic
and leadership achievements, support outstanding students with demonstrated financial
need, and help defray the cost of study abroad experiences.
Below is a sampling of the scholarships available to SJSU CoB students.
Watch for a mysjsu email announcing the application rounds for these scholarships.
The Salamone-Pisacane Merit Scholarshipis awarded to a freshman business major with a minimum 3.2 high school GPA, has demonstrated financial need, and who is the first in his/her family to attend college.
The Donn A. Burch Scholarshipis awarded to an outstanding undergraduate business student, with demonstrated financial
need, who has completed at least one semester at SJSU.
The E.N. Thayer Scholarshipis awarded to outstanding undergraduate business students in the Marketing concentration with demonstrated financial need.
The Alpha Al Sirat Scholarship, first presented in the 1940s, is the highest student honor awarded to students graduating from SJSU CoB. Awardees distinguish themselves in terms of scholarship, leadership in on-campus and off-campus activities and are judged most likely to succeed in their chosen fields of endeavor.
The Leadership Impact Scholarship is awarded to full time CoB Undergraduate and Graduate students who demonstrate leadership that has significantly influenced the CoB, SJSU, or community. Student must demonstrate financial need.
The Maria Lilia Rodriguez Scholarship is awarded to full time CoB Juniors and Seniors who demonstrate significant involvement in student organizations and services.
The Burmahln Scholarship recognizes full time CoB Undergraduate and Graduate students who demonstrate participation in extra curricular activities, at the department, campus and/or community levels. Awardees must demonstrate financial need.
The Jack Holland Scholarship honors full time Juniors and Seniors who demonstrate leadership and involvement in extra curricular activities on campus, personal achievements and honors, and academic merit.
The Guttormsen Scholarship recognizes full time CoB Undergraduate students who have experienced challenges, struggles and hardships while pursuing a degree in the CoB.
CoB Study Abroad Scholarships: To be eligible for COB Study Abroad Scholarships, students must have a study abroad application approved and on file in the Study Abroad Office (CH543). Students who have completed this step will be invited to apply for a study abroad scholarship.
Student Assistantships : The CoB awards over fifty student assistantships per year. Student assistants work with faculty on teaching and research activities and to support technology in the classrooms and labs.
