Center for Banking and Financial Services Center
Founded in 2008 the Center for Banking and Financial Services (CBFS) builds a vital partnership between the Lucas College and Graduate School of Business and local financial institutions. Since they began they have awarded over $63,000 in scholarships to LCoB students.

On June 2, 2016 SJSU and the CBFS will be hosting our 6th annual Economic Summit that will focus on the analysis and forecast of economic activity both at the local, state and national level.   Controller Betty Yee will give us a brief overview of the state’s economic outlook.  Dr. Christopher Thornberg, Founding Partner of Beacon Economics, will deliver a lively analysis of the latest economic trends as well as a forecast of economic growth and labor market activity.  For more information or to attend the event please visit the CBFS website.

Dean's Corner

Dear alumni and friends of the Lucas College & Graduate School of Business:

I would like to provide you with an update on the search for the next Dean for our college.  Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Andy Feinstein has decided to extend the search through next fall in an effort to expand our applicant pool. Although this news is disappointing, we are grateful for his commitment to finding the best candidate to lead the college.  We will continue to provide updates as we receive them.

As Interim Dean, I look forward to continuing to work with you to build programs that prepare our outstanding graduates to be the leaders and innovators powering Silicon Valley.

Marlene Turner All the Best,
 Marlene

In The Know

Quick News:
The members of the AACSB accreditation review team visited the college February 28th-March 1st. Although we cannot discuss their findings at this time, we can state that the group was pleased with our preparedness and hospitality. This was an opportunity to reflect on the high-caliber programs we offer to our students, especially through the multiple centers and institutes that enable them to thrive upon graduation. The college will receive the results of the review by the end of the semester.

Other Notes:
Congratulations to Professor Joyce Osland for receiving Commission for Global Dimensions of Student Development Excellence in International Education Research award.

Congratulations to Karen Philbrick, the executive director of the Mineta Transportation Institute (MTI), who was awarded the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) Women Who Move the Nation Award in the academia category.
