Prospective Students

Students having fun

Thank you for your interest in the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program. If you are accepted into and complete the program you will join a select few who stand out from the crowd….

As a student, you will work together in teams with other similarly qualified students on a significant and meaningful project at a major business in the Silicon Valley where you can apply what you have learned in the class room to real world business problems. You will gain much sought after work experience in high profile projects that will greatly enhance your educational experience and give you a significant edge over other students in the job market. You will also receive other benefits such as networking events with alumni and project sponsors, high level speakers from around Silicon Valley, and training in important areas such as project management, presentation skills, interviewing tips, executive briefings on contemporary business issues, ethical business practices and incorporating values into business decisions.

Sponsoring Firms

Firms that have sponsored Sbona Honors Program students include Abbott Labs, Accenture, Adobe, Agilent, Applied Materials, Bausch & Lomb, Bridge Bank, Cisco, Creative Labs, Frank, Rimerman + Co. • Completion of any pre-requisites as required by requirements by your major

Each department will have some department specific requirements:

Check your department Honors web pages below for details. And, if you have any questions about your eligibility or the application process, please contact your department's honors coordinator, also listed on your department honors web page, as soon as possible.

Want to Join a Select Few?

If you wish to be considered for the Sbona Honors Program, please complete the online Application Form by your department’s application deadline (generally the early Spring of your Junior year). In the application form, you will include an unofficial SJSU transcript, your resume and an essay on an assigned question. Please only submit your application once. You may return to edit your application once you submit it (keep the link), but it will be less confusing if you assemble all your materials and complete the entire application at once.
