Current students are invited to join the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program Linked-In group. The purpose is, of course, networking, sharing job opportunities and also to get general information about the program.

This group is open to current students and alumni of the Program (all concentrations). If that’s you, please join us.

What to put on your resume or Linked In

To graduate with Honors from the College of Business and have it listed on your transcript, you must:

  • Have an overall SJSU GPA of 3.0
  • Have a GPA of 3.5 in upper-division business classes. That means all business classes numbered Bus 100 and above, plus Business Ethics (186) and 100W (whether designated “BUS” or not).
  • Complete one individual scholarly paper
  • Have honors faculty recommendation

In this case, you may use the following wording on your resume, LinkedIn profile, etc.: 
Graduated with Honors from the Lucas College of Business, San Jose State University.
or
Graduated with Honors from the Lucas College of Business with a concentration in [your concentration, e.g., Management Information Systems], San Jose State University

To graduate from the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program and receive the completion certificate, you must:

  • Successfully complete 2 semesters of program with a "B" or better in both semesters.
  • Have honors faculty recommendation

In this case, you may use the following wording on your resume, LinkedIn profile, etc.:
Completed the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program in the Lucas College of Business, San Jose State University
or
Completed the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program in the Lucas College of Business, with a concentration in [your concentration, e.g., Management Information Systems], San Jose State University.


Sbona Honors Graduates Admission to SJSU MBA/MST Programs

Students who successfully complete the SJSU College of Business Gary J. Sbona Honors Program, are granted a waiver for the GMAT/GRE requirement for the application to the Lucas MBA programs, provided they meet the following conditions:

  1. Graduate from the Gary J. Sbona Honors Program, as verified by a letter from the Program Director. 
  2. Apply for admission in the Lucas MBA programs within five years of the graduation date."
