The Silicon Valley Business Plan Competition is an annual forum to encourage innovation in the SJSU community, and reward student participation in new venture creation. It is Campus wide, and open to all SJSU students and alumni.

1st Prize- Bill Barton Award of $10,000
Flickflyer – Paiman Vahdati
“Mobile app for today’s digital sellers/buyers who are constrained to traditional, time-consuming marketplaces; Flickflyer provides a B2B/C2C marketplace where sellers can easily record and upload video listings from their smart phones. Flickflyer delivers a simpler, more intuitive and engaging platform that saves sellers time, and gives buyers confidence to shop.”
2nd Prize- Larry Boucher Award of $5,000
Brakefree Helmet Brake Light – Alex Arkhangelskiy
“A modular motorcycle helmet accessory that improves rider's visibility and reduces the risk of accidents related to distracted driving and rider visibility. Our product uses a universal attachment system to attach to any helmet. The device utilizes our proprietary technology to detect braking and functions as a 2nd brake light.”
3rd Prize- Dan Doles Award of $2,500
The Brain Stimulator – JD Leadam
We create affordable TransCranial Direct Current Stimulation Devices (tDCS) that allow consumers the potential to dramatically influence their cognitive capabilities, such as improving memory, assisting with new motor skill acquisition, and even enhancing new language learning and mathematical abilities.
4th Prize- Dave Hadden Award of $1,500
Tactical Aerial Recon Drone (T.A.R.D) – Roneek Vora
Over the last several decades, 80% of elephants in Kenya have been slaughtered for their ivory. TARD is designed to combat poaching using sophisticated equipment such as; Thermal Vision, PA System and GPS tracking. These capabilities will enable Kenya park rangers to effectively monitor and protect these endangered animals.
