Intercultural Communication and Global Understanding

Bath, England – June 9-30, 2009

You are invited to join Dr. Dennis Jaehne and 14 other students for a 3-week study abroad adventure in Bath, England this summer (June 9 to June 30). This program will provide you valuable experience in another culture, while you learn more about your own world (and you’ll have a great time doing it). Study Abroad experience is generally a plus on your resume, especially for careers in a globalizing world. The 3-week programs are also excellent, low-cost explorations of your potential interest in longer-term Study Abroad programs. On this program you will:

Earn 3 units of SJSU credit for COMM 173 Intercultural Communication and Global Understanding—an allowable elective for International Business majors and Area Studies Minors; counts as study abroad experience for Global Studies majors. (If you have already taken COMM 173, there is a COMM 180, Independent Study option.)
Live with a local family (room and board) in the World Heritage City of Bath, England
Explore the beautiful West Country Region around Bath, including trips to Stonehenge, Oxford, Bristol, Wells, Glastonbury, Laycock and more. (An optional field trip to London will be arranged depending on student interest.) Check out these destinations on the internet.

Application Deadline is March 3, 2009

However, we are limited to 15 students on this trip, so don’t delay. Program starts June 9 when we all meet at London’s Heathrow Airport (arrange your own air travel). Program ends on June 30 when we deliver you back to Heathrow. Program cost is estimated at $2975, depending on number of students and exchange rate. Includes all room and board, bus pass in Bath, SJSU tuition fees, excursions (except optional London trip), insurance. Your course registration fee will be due on March 17 and a non-refundable $500 program deposit on March 24. Final balance due by April 15.
