Using SJSU's Name and Identity
Thank you for your interest in telling SJSU’s story! SJSU Strategic Communications and Public Affairs has developed guidelines to help us all promote appropriate use of the San Jose State University name and identity. These guidelines also ensure that the university's identity is appropriately and consistently represented wherever it appears.
Any person, business or organization desiring to use the San Jose State name, verbiage or identity elements (identity marks, photos, video, proprietary SJSU Spartan typeface, etc.) -- as outlined in SJSU Power Source: A Multi-Platform Communication Guide -- on any product, including premiums, promotions and advertising, is expected to contact Strategic Communications and Public Affairs for approval.
NOTE: For licensing requests related to Athletics branding, please contact Athletics Licensing Director Michael Beaubien.
Request Permission to Use the SJSU Identity
We do our best to review requests quickly. Please note that this approval process can take up to two weeks. Following these steps will help the process go as quickly and smoothly as possible:
Review SJSU’s communication guidelines before moving to design. Want help? Visit one of the team’s marketing communications open labs for guidance and/or feedback on your idea and preliminary design concept.
Let us know about your project as soon as you know about it -- before placing an order with a vendor. Sharing this information, especially by attending one of our open labs, will help us understand your needs and timeline in advance, and will help to minimize potential delays in securing approval.
