System backups are via our central backup system that includes a disk spool and tape library system. Servers are manually and automatically monitored for availability, processes, CPU, disk utilization, and other critical elements. Anti-Spam SolutionUniversity Computing Systems answered the user calls for a flexible, affordable anti-spam solution. The campus needed a system that would work for all 30+ e-mail systems on campus without deleting important e-mail accidentally. The solution was to deploy an open-source spam tagging system at the SMTP gateway that uses a series of algorithms to determine if an e-mail is spam. The system marks suspect e-mail with the phrase [[JUNK]] in the subject line of the e-mail. Users can set their e-mail client to take the appropriate action in filtering suspect mail into a special folder before deleting. In order offer spam tagging to all 30+ campus e-mail systems, we are unable to offer individual filtering and other features that this and other anti-spam systems can provide. More anti-spam features would require the e-mail systems to be administered by UCAT. Meanwhile, we've provided Lotus Notes users with additional tips for individualized filtering options. See your technician for more information. Campus Anti-Virus SolutionUCAT negotiated the acquisition of desktop and server anti-virus for all SJSU-owned computers and servers. Your desktop support has the software and can install anti-virus software. To request an account or service, please visit our "One-Stop" service request page.
