Letter from CAPS Office
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) recognizes the impact that recent Federal policy changes have made on the students of San José State University, specifically our international and minority populations. At counseling centers nationwide, confusion and uncertainty are causing disruption and worry among students, their colleagues, friends, and family.
Like other universities counseling centers, we know that our experiences have been deeply enriched and strengthened by the cultural and intellectual diversity all students bring into our communities. We appreciate everyone, and the safety and security of all students is of utmost importance. Additionally, we also recognize that events of recent days can cause significant psychological distress that may reduce the academic performance of students; both to those directly and indirectly affected. We want our campus community to understand that the counselors of CAPS stand for cultural diversity and social justice.
We invite all students to come into Counseling and Psychological Services, located at the Student Wellness Center, room 300B, for any support needed.
