Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential

Upon Admission

1. Attend new student orientation
2. Register for prerequisite classes at MySJSU.
3. Add courses in classroom if you miss your enrollment appointments

Prerequisites/Core Requirements

1. Complete eight prerequisites / core requirement courses
2. Select a faculty to be your advisor
3. Apply for clearance
4. Take CBEST exam prior to starting your internship

Advanced Courses

1. Take required advanced courses
2. Complete 9 unites internship at two school levels for total of 600 hours

Exit Exam

1. Sign up the comprehensive exam at the department office
2. Take a comprehensive exam [doc] on applying guidance and counseling theories to practice
3. Obtain advisor’s approval for your PPS worksheet [doc]
4. Pass CBEST

Obtain Credential

1. Complete credential application package at the College Credential Office (SH108)
2. Order your official transcripts
3. Attend Department Graduation Reception and University Commencement in May
